Exceptionally and with much regret, the Baalbeck Festival relocates to La Magnanerie of Jdeidé el Metn with a modified program;

One of the most beloved and celebrated musical ambassadors of our time, soprano Renée Fleming captivates audiences with her sumptuous voice, consummate artistry, and compelling stage presence. Known as “the people’s diva” and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Classical Vocal Solo she continues to grace the world’s greatest opera stages and concert halls, now extending her reach to include other musical forms and media.

Saturday August 17, 2013 – MARIANNE FAITHFULL
Icon of Rock History
Steps of Bacchus Temple
Marianne Faithfull, rock muse of the 20th century, is an icon that continues to make a significant mark in the history of pop music. Discovered at the age of 17 by the producer of the Rolling Stones – who invited her to interpret Mick Jagger and Keith Richards’ first composition As Tears Go By – the beautiful British blonde, whose hoarse voice and eventful life made her famous in Swinging London, has also collaborated with acclaimed musicians such as Serge Gainsbourg, David Bowie, Metallica and Nick Cave.
Friday August 23, 2013 – ELIANE ELIAS
Jazz Takes a Brazilian Twist
Eliane Elias is a brilliant jazz pianist, arranger, vocalist and songwriter. As the protégée of Vinicius de Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim, fathers of bossa nova, the famous Brazilian pianist went on to collaborate with musicians like Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette and Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. A talented composer, she released Something for You in 2008, a tribute record to the famous pianist Bill Evans. Her latest album, Light My Fire, which reached the top of the jazz charts all over Europe, is further proof of her talent for interpretation.
Saturday and Sunday August 24, 2013 - MARCEL KHALIFÉ and his Oud
Marcel Khalifé will sing for you, alone with his oud, inside the Temple of Bacchus. A challenge only a few artists can take up. Marcel Khalife is a unique artist who has written countless songs and albums, awards, distinctions and medals to his credit. These two long awaited concerts are invitations to share the musician’s intimacy, his dreams, his poetry, and his struggles.
